MotoAmerica Superstock 1000 competitor Danny Eslick will race a JPMoto Malaysia Suter in place of injured rider Efren Vazquez in the FIM Moto2 World Championship race May 6-8 on the Bugatti Circuit, in Le Mans, France.
“This is a good opportunity to go and see what I’ve got against the best guys in the world,” the four-time AMA National Champion exclusively told Roadracingworld.com Sunday at New Jersey Motorsports Park. “I’ve done a few other things [Internationally]. Two years ago I went down to Brazil and did their Championship. I did some British [Superstock 1000] stuff. The level of talent there was solid, but everyone knows I’m going to have my work cut out for me [in Moto2]. There’s a lot of guys, and the top 30 are all awesome, all super fast with really good teams. It’s all going to depend on how well I gel with the bike. I’ve adapted pretty quickly to some other motorcycles during my career, so I don’t see any reason why we can’t go figure it out.”
Eslick said the deal was put together by his friend Michael Barnes, the 2016 Daytona 200 winner.
“I’ve got to thank Barney for this. He put this ball in my court,” said Eslick. “Hopefully, we can go put in a good showing for the series, for MotoAmerica, for my fans and for myself. To get somewhere inside the top 20, I think, would be a solid result.”
