HONDA EAST YOSHIMURA SUZUKI SUCCESSFUL IN SEASON OPENER

Maumee, OH – Honda East Yoshimura Suzuki’s Eddie Kraft won all four races entered in Sunday’s WERA North Central opening event at Grattan Raceway, located in Belding, Michigan. Kicking off the season, Kraft won races in B Superstock, B Superbike, A Superstock and Formula 1, all on a Pirelli-shod, SportbikeTrackGear.com sponsored Suzuki GSX-R750.

“Things started off pretty well,” said Eddie. “It was a bit of a scramble getting everything ready in time for the first event, along with rehabbing from the third wrist surgery a few months prior, so we really weren’t able to test beforehand. With the cold and wet weather throughout the weekend, we didn’t turn many laps before Sunday – but with the effort of the team, we were really able to dial in the bike throughout Sunday’s races. The new Honda East Yoshimura Suzuki GSX-R750’s is a wheelie machine! We ran the same set of Pirelli DOT tires all weekend and the bike is just a blast to ride. I couldn’t be happier with the start we’re off to, especially considering the level of competition here at the opening round.”

The team’s next official event will be Road Atlanta, where the WERA Cycle Jam will be taking place on June 5-8.

#146 CALE JONES STARTS 2014 SEASON OPENER WITH A WIN AND THREE MORE PODIUM FINISHES AT GRATTAN RACEWAY

NEWARK, OHIO – MAY 7, 2014 – Cale Jones (#146) took the top spot in his first race of the 2014 season, C Superstock Expert, at the Pirelli/WERA North Central Sportsman Series event at Grattan Raceway in Belding, Michigan on May 4, 2014. Competing on a 2012 GSX-R 600 built by Mark Junge, Jones also placed second in B Superstock Expert and C Superbike Expert, and third in B Superbike Expert.

Jones is competing in his second Expert season, supported by sponsors Dunlop, MWC Performance, Kyle Racing, Kannich Motorsports, 1000rr.us, Mark Campanella, K. Jones Communications, and Matt Stolnis. In 2013, Jones finished second overall in the WERA North Central Region’s B and C Superstock Expert classes.

“We had a lot of grip issues early in the weekend, but we were able to make our Dunlop tires work when it counted for Sunday’s races,” said Jones. “One of our supporters, MWC Performance out of Daytona, Florida, sent us a set of MOTO-D digital tire warmers just in time for the weekend. They were the key to our podium finishes and first win. This is a great start to our season and I’m looking forward to our second round of racing at Road Atlanta in June. I want to thank WERA for putting on a great event and the corner workers for bearing the cold all weekend. I also want to thank Kyle Racing, Kannich Motorsports, Dunlop, all of the guys at 1000RR.US, Mark Campanella, and my crew, family and umbrella girl. My dream is coming together better than I could have ever imagined and I continue to be humbled by the amount of help and support I have been given.”
