EAST COAST TEAM USA TO COMPETE IN AUSTRALIA PHILLIP ISLAND CLASSIC Robert Coy, Director of the United States Classic Racing Association officially announced today a very strong East Coast Team USA that will be going to compete in the Australian Phillip Island Classic in January 2014. The team consisting of some of North America’s top vintage 350 riders and P2 vintage sidecar teams will be contesting the highly competitive international Phillip Island Classic. It was confirmed today that the container of race bikes and sidecars shipped by freighter safely arrived in Melbourne, Australia yesterday. The container of race machines will now be transported to the fabulous Phillip Island track for unpacking and preparation for the mid January race. The East Coast Team USA reads like a who’s who of the fastest vintage 350 riders in North America. Team Gianinni with riders Tim Tilghman, Rich Midgley and Kerry Smith, all AMA, FIM North America, USCRA, AHRMA, WERA and VRRA champions and top competitors will be racing the superbly prepared Gianinni Honda 350s that have dominated North American vintage racing. On the same level as Team Gianinni‘s beautiful Hondas, will be Bob Demetrius of Team Mach 1 Racing riding his ultra quick and competitive championship winning Honda 350. American and international vintage racing legend Dave Roper will be racing his very historic Aermacchi 350. Rounding out the solid East Coast Team USA 350 riders will be Steve D’Angelo and Chris Jensen both racing immaculately prepared and very fast Ducati 350’s. Very quick New York rider Kenny Cummings will be racing a Seeley G50. Denise Talabach will race a Mach 1 Racing Team prepared Ducati 250 and Craig Hirko will be mounted on a very fast Bridgestone. The sidecar teams of Bob Demetrius /Christina Divegard , Brian Carroll / Eve Stein will be on BMW powered outfits with Pete and Denise Talaback on an exquisite Vincent powered outfit rounding out the East Coast Team USA. The team will be arriving in Australia a few days prior to the Phillip Island Classic after a 25 hour plus travel time. With a little rest from the jet lag and long travel time coupled with the warm Summer climate in OZ away from the harsh Winter cold of the Northeast, the team will get fired up to represent the USA well at the international event.
