Three years ago Roadracing World did an article on former Pro racer Gregg Smrz, highlighting how he has gone on to become one of the top stuntmen, stunt coordinators and second unit directors in the motion picture industry.
A few weeks ago, we got an email from Smrz informing us that our article played a role in him being hired as the Stunt Coordinator and Second Unit Director for Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation and being tasked with conceiving, coordinating and shooting the thrilling motorcycle chase sequence early in the movie.
On July 29, we posted an article on Roadracingworld.com chronicling this chain of events ahead of the movie’s release on July 31.
That article ended with Smrz’s saying, “I have a whole bag full of ideas that are going to be in another movie that will hopefully be generated from people really liking this one.”
Smrz was scheduled to attend the Red Bull Indianapolis GP this weekend at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. When we reached out to Smrz to meet up with him on Friday, Smrz responded with a text message that read: “I had to cancel the trip. I got a work related call from your article. Another motorcycle movie. :-)”
