Denver, CO – Racing For Fallen Heroes, a charity track day hosted by the Motorcycle Roadracing Association (MRA) and High Plains Raceway (HPR), concluded its inaugural event on Saturday, September 22nd. Nearly 60 riders took part in the event, during which they were given the opportunity to ride their motorcycles on HPR’s 2.55 mile recently repaved road course. There was also a silent auction with items donated by some of the motorcycle industry’s top names. Additionally, Yamaha Champions Rider School (YCRS) instructors Mark Schellinger and Scott Rybarik were on hand to provide two–up rides and a riding skills seminar during the lunch break. As a result of the efforts of organizers and sponsors, we are happy to announce that over $10,600 was raised and donated to the Colorado Fallen Hero Foundation.

MRA President Jim Wilson said, “After the difficult year the Colorado law enforcement community experienced, with three officers being killed in the line of duty the first five weeks of 2018, we are grateful to every participant, volunteer and sponsor for their generosity in raising proceeds for memorial services of those that made the ultimate sacrifice keeping us safe.”

“The management at High Plains Raceway are big supporters of our military and first responder communities and are very proud to have been part of this event” said HPR General Manager Glenn Conser. “We hope it becomes an annual event and gets bigger each year!”

“Support from groups like the MRA and High Plains Raceway make it possible for us to ensure that any peace officer in Colorado killed in the line of duty receives an honorable and dignified memorial service” said Captain Stephen Redfearn from the Colorado Fallen Hero Foundation. “In a time where it is needed most this support demonstrates how the community as a whole supports their law enforcement.”

The MRA and HPR gratefully acknowledge the contributions of its sponsors, including Yamaha Champions Riding School, Western Ambulance, Bell Helmets, Pirelli, Dunlop, Spidi, Jon Glaefke, Boulder Motor Sports, Performance Cycle of Colorado, Brighton Radiator & Muffler/Dennie Burke, Race Tech Suspension, Junkyard Ink/Chris Nami, Quikcycles/Lukachy Family, Woodcraft Technologies, Zero Gravity Racing, CarbonSmith, DrippenWet, 64 Degrees Racing, Motion Pro, Third Bridge Wines ; along with a special thank-you to all the staff and volunteers for their support.

The Colorado Fallen Hero Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization made up of Colorado law enforcement officers and civilian personnel who serve in a voluntary capacity. When a line of duty death occurs, the Colorado Fallen Hero Foundation can assist, support, and provide resources for a host agency in their effort to serve the deceased officer’s family based on their needs and wishes. Their presence allows agency members to participate in honoring their colleague without the pressure of funeral planning, allowing them an appropriate time to grieve. Planning a line of duty death funeral while handling the associated investigation and the routine of the everyday call load can overwhelm any agency. Their team of professionals integrates with agency personnel to assist with funeral planning to whatever extent the family and the agency desire. Their services are provided at no cost to the agency or the family. For more information about the Colorado Fallen Hero Foundation, go to www.cofallenhero.org
