CVMA club racer Dr. Elaine Carpenter, age 49, and former AMA Pro and CVMA racer Ted Rich, age 54, are both dead following the crash of a small biplane this morning, Monday, August 20th in the Phoenix area.

Carpenter was a vet specializing in horses, and raced as recently as last season with CVMA.

CVMA official Dustin Coyner posted this on the CVMA Facebook page:

“Sad news: CVMA lost a couple of family members today. Ted Rich and Elaine Carpenter. They both have been fixtures in CVMA since the club started hosting races back in 2011. They’ve brought out countless new racers, and were just always there with all of their tiger-striped equipment. They’ll be missed for sure! RIP.”
