R.I.P.: 1970s Road Racing Star Hurley Wilvert

Former road racing star Hurley Wilvert died last Monday, after being hit by a car while riding his streetbike near his home in New Mexico. According to Facebook post made by his long-time friend (and former racer) Philippe de Lespinay, Wilvert was born in 1944 (making him 74 years old this year) and enjoyed touring around the country with his wife, Brenda, visiting friends.

Wilvert finished third in the 1974 Daytona 200 on a Kawasaki Triple. In more recent years, Wilvert competed in AHRMA VIntage events.
