WERA TRIPLE CROWN + 1 WITH MOTO
WERA Motorcycle Roadracing riders joined Round #1 of the 2018 Moto America Season with our Triple Crown +1 presented by Honda Series this past weekend at Road Atlanta. For 2018 the Triple Crown +1 presented by Honda has two classes which run together on track and are then scored separately. The two classes (600cc Superbike and 1000cc Superbike) will have a point fund of $2500.00 in each class paying out to the top 3 Riders in each class after the Barber Moto America Round in September.
This weekend proved extremely challenging for the riders in the Triple Crown +1 presented by Honda with wet conditions on Sunday after two days of good weather. The race started at 1:45pm and after two laps had to see a Red Flag due to the extreme downpour and the track surface. The riders came in and at 5:00pm went out to complete 6 more laps to give them 8 or their original 12 scheduled laps. In the 1000cc Class #912 Brad Burns from Beaver, PA on his Kawasaki 1000 took the win followed by #72 Billy Ethridge of Lawrenceville, GA on his Suzuki 1000 with #37 Stefano Mesa of Boca Raton, FL on his Kawasaki 1000 rounding out the podium.
