American Errol Sullivan returning to Spanish RFME CEV 85GP Championship in 2018

Albacete, Spain: American Errol Sullivan has signed on with team XC Tech to contest the 2018 RFME CEV 85 GP championship.

The 12-year-old racer from Los Angeles competed in the 85GP championship for the first time last season. 2017 was a learning year for Errol, racing in another country, new tracks, new languages, new full size bikes. Sullivan commented, “In the beginning of last year I was way off pace, but I never gave up hope. Every race I chipped away at the difference between myself and the leader.”

RFME is a Spanish National Championship, with races at a several world class circuits all over the country. Several world championship teams have riders competing in the various classes. “The competition is intense, with lots of really fast riders,” he added. “Around 30 riders line up in every race!”

As a young racer, Errol had to come to Spain to find this level of competition. “At home you never line up with this many fast guys,” Errol said. Spain has become sort of a Mecca for aspiring racers from around the world. Nearly every rider in the world championships that is not Spanish has spent time in the Spanish Championships.

XC Tech is an established Spanish racing team with riders in several classes in both the RFME CEV and in the FIM CEV.

For 2018, Errol is looking to build on the experience and success of last season where he finished with a best result of third place at the Circuit de Albacete becoming the first American to ever finish on the podium in the 85GP class. “This season I know the tracks and the bike. I’m looking to be in podium contention at every round and hopefully in a good position for the title at the end of the season,” the young racer said.

Errol would like to thank his sponsors: “I really want to say thank you to everyone that has helped get me where I am, Beverly Hills Ducati, KTM, Alta – Arai Americas Helmets, Dainese USA, Motul Oils, Touch Up Direct, California Cycles.” Racing is an extremely demanding sport, physically, emotionally and certainly financially.
