Team New Zealand set to return to MotoAmerica for 2018.
2017 saw the arrival of a modest but exciting new team in the MotoAmerica paddock, Palmetto Motorsports – Team New Zealand. Whilst the season ended with a somewhat disappointing 6th place overall in the Superstock 600 class it had plenty of highs. The team’s only rider for 2017, Shane Richardson, managed an impressive 5 podiums across the season. He was also the only Superstock 600 to qualify on the front row of the grid for the combined Supersport 600 and Superstock 600 classes, at Wisconsin’s Road America.
In 2018 they are excited to announce a two-rider roster in the all new MotoAmerica Stock 1000 class. The two riders will be Shane Richardson, 22, of Wellington, New Zealand, and Alastair Hoogenboezem, 25, from Christchurch, New Zealand.
The team will field two 2018 Kawasaki ZX-10R motorcycles with support from Nitron Suspension, Akrapovic Exhaust, iOneMoto, Evol Technologies, SBS Brakes, ChickenHawk Tyre Warmers and DrippinWet Decals.
This season they return with a new naming sponsor, Woolich Racing, an ECU reflashing company based in Australia. Woolich specialise in motorcycle ECU editing software and equipment for tuners, dealers, racers and hobbyists. This software offers users the ability to add functions to their original ECU, such as quickshifters, autoblippers, auto tune, datalogging as well as the ability to tune the bikes fuelling and ignition.
Alongside Woolich the team have another two partners which make 2018 possible. Kissimmee Motorsports and Palmetto Motorsports. Both are brick and mortar motorcycle dealers in Florida. “Without Kissimmee and Palmetto 2018 would not be possible for us. They have provided the bikes for our campaign this season and we hope to do them proud,” said Seth Devereux, Team New Zealand’s Manager.
Team New Zealand will compete under the “Woolich Racing Kawasaki” banner for the 2018 MotoAmerica season when the lights go out at Georgia’s Road Atlanta on Sunday the 15th of April.
