THE WORK CONTINUES FOR THE SKY RACING TEAM VR46 IN VALENCIA

Second seasonal testing session for the Team at the Ricardo Tormo circuit. Due to weather conditions, the last day of testing has been canceled.

Valencia, 27th February 2018 – Ended before the scheduled date for the second testing session of 2018 for the Sky Racing Team VR46. After a very busy Day1, Pecco Bagnaia, Luca Marini, Nicolò Bulega and Dennis Foggia were forced into the garage due to the weather conditions and the low temperatures.

In Moto2, positive feedbacks from Bagnaia and Marini at work to test the new material from Kalex and Ohlins. Satisfied with the progress made between the morning and afternoon session, both have been close to the strongest guys.

In Moto3, continues the approach to the competitions for Bulega. After a good first testing in Jerez, Nicolò has returned to develop his KTM. Dennis Foggia after a first day focused on improving the chassis of his bike was stopped because of an illness.

For the Sky Racing Team VR46 the work will continue next week during the last official IRTA test scheduled at Jerez de la Frontera from 6th to 8th March.

“A very busy day, a shame for the today’s weather condition, but we have preferred to keep a day of testing to use it during the season. Overall we have completed most of the planned job and we are confident. We can finalize the latest changes at the IRTA Jerez test of the next week”.

Franceco Bagnaia

Moto2 Rider

“A particular two-days of testing: yesterday the track conditions were not optimal, the track was very slippery, while today the weather and low temperatures have compromised our planned job. Despite yesterday’s crash, where I have lost time, I’m satisfied with what I’ve done. In the afternoon we were able to try several new solutions. The lap time was not bad with a good pace. I’m curious to get back on track at Jerez to continue working on these technical innovations”.

Luca Marini

Moto2 Rider

“After the good job of yesterday, unfortunately today we were not able to get on track due to the bad weather. Together with the team, we have preferred to keep a day of testing to use it during the season. I’m happy with the work done, Kalex and Ohlins have brought several very interesting technical innovations. I have focused on my riding style on this track, which is not one of my favorite, and I have already seen little improvements considering also the conditions of the asphalt and the temperatures”.

Nicolo Bulega

Moto3 Rider

“I’m happy to be back on track. Yesterday we did a great job, the lap time was not perfect, but I still have room of improvement. We have tried different solutions and I hope to make another step forward in Jerez”.

Dennis Foggia

Moto3 Rider

“It was not the test I expected. Unfortunately, due to a illness, I was not 100% fit and because of the weather we were not albe to take advantage from the second day of work. Overall, I’m happy with what we have done on the chassis and weights’s balancement. The track was very slippery and not very fast. I hope to recover all the energy needed in these days to get back in Jerez”.

Third winter test completed in Valencia for the The Forward Racing Team

Last day of test today here in Valencia for Stefano Manzi and Eric Granado. The weather was not quite kind: yesterday there was a shiny day and both of riders could run several laps, today instead they were forced to an early stop due to heavy rain and a dramatic decline of temperature.

Granado was able to complete 53 laps, Manzi 52: they both improved their feeling with the Suter MMX2.

The two Forward Racing Team riders, after the test here at the Ricard Tormo Circuit, will be back on their bikes in one week for the last IRTA test before the season opener in Qatar.

Stefano Manzi –

“Here in Valencia we carried out the work done in the previous tests. Yesterday, luckly, was a good day e we were able to run all day long on dry. Our work was good, for sure, and we adapted the bike to my race style. Today unfortunately we couldn’t continue to work on track due to the weather conditions. I’m happy we’ll be back here next week to start all over again in Jerez for the last IRTA test, where we’ll try to be better prepared for Qatar”.

Eric Granado –

“This test was very positive, for sure. We tried a lot of new components on the bike looking for a way to run from now on. Even if we run in dry conditions only one day, we complete several laps and this is a positive thing. The feeling with the bike improved from the last time, even thanks to the intense work we did with the Suter tech that hugely support us. We still have a lot of work to do and I hope we can do another step forward starting from the next test in Jerez. The best we can do is to arrive in Qatar with the bike as competitive as possible and no change to do on it because, at the end of the day, being fast in race is all that matters”.

Milena Koerner – Team Manager

“Even thought the bad weather conditions we found today, it was a very good test for sure. After the first two experiences with this bike here at the beginning of the month and in Jerez, we analyzed the data e we found out some working area: especially front and back suspensions. We thank a lot Oehlins and Suter for all the support during this day: they help us hugely and indicate us the right work’s direction. We did great progress with both of riders, and we have very clear idea on what we have to do in the three days of IRTA test starting next Tuesday; then we have to show up as good as we can in Qatar. We thank all the team for the great job and all the sponsor for their support”.
