Helicraft Racing have opted for a novel way of introducing their 2018 New Zealand Supersport Championship rider – they’ve taken out billboard sites in Christchurch ahead of this weekend’s opening round in the city.

The Wanaka-based team are fielding Jacob Stroud (19) in both the Supersport championship and the Superlites class, where he’ll ride an MV Agusta 675 F3 and a Krämer HKR690, respectively.

The four-round series begins at Mike Pero Motorsport Park, just outside Christchurch, where racing takes place this Saturday and Sunday.

“We’ve always prided ourselves on doing things a little differently and the poster sites reflect this,” says team owner Rod Price.

“It’s a great opportunity to present Jacob and the team to a wider audience and it’s something unique.

“I can’t recall ever seeing motorcycle racing promoted this way, and certainly not featuring an up and coming rider and two iconic bikes such as the MV and Krämer.”

Price says it is also a gesture of thanks to the team’s support partners.

“We have some great new partners this year, in particular Mike Pero Real Estate, MTF Finance and Shuzi.

“It’s our way of showing our appreciation to them and our other supporters.”

Stroud, son of nine-time New Zealand champion Andrew, arrives in Christchurch this week, fresh from two confidence-boosting podium places at the Boxing Day meeting in Whanganui.
