Cameron Jones to race Honda CBR500R for 2019 MotoAmerica Season
Cameron Jones will be riding for Jones Honda this year on the Honda CBR500R for the 2019 MotoAmerica season. Cameron is scheduled to race all 9 rounds, with the first one starting at Road Atlanta next weekend.
Cameron raced the 2018 MotoAmerica season on a Kawasaki Ninja 400 with top positions of 5th at Utah, 7th at Road America, and 8th at Laguna Seca. Cameron ended the season in 18th overall after missing the final two races due to a head injury sustained at Pittsburgh International Race Complex. He has made a full recovery from his accident and looking to come back even stronger for the 2019 season. He has been back to training and preparing his CBR500R for this year’s season. Cameron participated at the Daytona 200 CCS/ASRA weekend entering in the 500 GT race taking home first place. In the 500 Super Sport and 500 Super Bike he finished in second place.
“I am really excited for this upcoming year with Honda, we’re on a new bike full of new challenges. Last year every track I visited was new for me, I think that will be a big advantage this year along with the combined rider/bike weight. I have had multiple days of testing the CBR500 compared to my Ninja 400 from last year and I believe we will be even more competitive on the new platform.”
Cameron not only races these bikes but is a big contribution to creating them. He assembles them with his dad Darrell Jones and shop technician Alan Meyer. He spends hours on the dyno each week working with tuning the race bikes and building information towards any research/development parts that can improve the bikes.
