ÖHLINS KICKS INTO 2018, LAUNCHING NEW PRODUCTS AT EICMA SHOW
Öhlins showcases new suspension products for key market segments, at their stand at the EICMA show in Milan (Location: Hall 22, Stand I53, opposite Yamaha).
Öhlins announces new and revised products for the hypersports, Adventure and its original specialism; motocross for 2018. It has also been another successful year on track with Championship victories in Moto3, Moto2 alongside domination in MotoGP with the top ten finishers all sporting gold forks and yellow springs! The first 2018 product release actually complements a popular new Adventure application from last season. Öhlins released its STX46 piggyback rear shock for Honda’s Africa Twin in 2016, and now the firm has produced a matching fork upgrade for the big Honda’s front end. An entirely new product, the Africa Twin fork kit blends two of Öhlins’ most important technology pillars – the RXF motocross racing fork, and the NIX30 Adventure fork cartridge design. The synergy from these two technology strands gives the new fork the tough, high-performance design needed for hard-core offroad riding, while also providing the essential ride sophistication, grip and comfort needed for use on the asphalt. The new fork offers full adjustability, with easy access at the fork tops, and its super-high-quality exterior finish is the perfect match to Honda’s stylish adventure machine.
Getting more hardcore off-road, Öhlins has also updated its acclaimed 48mm motocross fork for 2018, now dubbed the RXF 48 S. There are obvious changes to the exterior design, with a new blue guide sleeve accent but, of course, the most important changes lie inside, with a completely new cartridge design, revised shim stack arrangement and optimised internal valve components. The result? Improved stability and rigidity, higher impact capacity, and even finer front wheel feedback for the rider.
Finally, for those addicted to ultimate race and superbike performance, Öhlins has been working hard on its top-level rear shock. The TTX GP shock has long been the byword for the very best in track performance on road and race sportsbikes. Now, Öhlins has raised the bar once more, with a new valve system, updated piston and seals, plus lower overall weight. The 2018 TTX GP also offers new ‘tool-free’ adjuster dials, which can be adjusted by hand or hex-key, as the owner prefers.
The Öhlins stand at EICMA is in Hall 22, Stand I53, opposite Yamaha. The EICMA show runs from November 7-12th November (7-8th for press and trade visitors only) at the Milano Rho Fiera exhibition centre. More info: www.eicma.it.
