CMRA Will Close Out Its 2017 Season This Coming Weekend At MSR Houston

CMRA 2017 Season Finale at MSRH This Weekend

This coming weekend, October 27-29, 2017, the Central Motorcycle Roadracing Association (CMRA) season finale will be tearing up the track at MSR Houston in Angleton, Texas. The track is located 13 miles south of Highway 6 off Highway 288. MSR Houston is a 17-turn, 2.38 mile full road course.

The weekend’s activities begin Friday with an all-day CMRA racer practice and CMRA License school beginning at 8:00 a.m. Registration opens at 6:30 a.m. and pre-registration is not required. Post-entry for the races is available at the track beginning 6:30 am Friday, October 27. Immediately following practice will be a Happy Hour Meet and Greet/Wedding Reception for Steve and Sara Daughhetee in the Tech area.

Saturday’s schedule begins with a full slate of Mini and Lightweight Sprint races, including the North LA Lawn and Landscape-sponsored Formula 8, and Altus Lawton Motorsports – Ultra Lightweight GP Novice classes. MotoBros.net, a new class sponsor, comes on board this weekend to award a $200 cash prize to the winner of the Grom Challenge. The 5th round of Ultra Lightweight Endurance begins promptly at 10:30 a.m. with a 3 hour race, followed by the final round Race Tire Services/Dunlop Team 60 races. Round 5 of Championship Endurance, also a 3 hour race, immediately follows and concludes the day’s racing.

A trophy presentation and meet and greet followed by the CMRA end of season Pizza and Halloween Party sponsored by B&J’s Austin Motorcycle Parts is a welcome finish to the full day of racing. Be sure to bring your little trick or treaters. There will be candy handed out in the paddock, a Pit Decorating and Costume contest, and the Mechanics Slow Bike Race caps off the evening.

Sunday’s schedule is jam-packed with a full day’s worth of competitive Bridgestone/CMRA Championship Sprint races. Among the exciting classes not to be missed is the Century Trucks and Vans – Formula 2 Expert class and 212Decals.com – A Superbike Expert.

In addition, a cash prize of $100 is put up by P1 Racing for the first 600cc machine to cross the line in the Metric Garage/CVC – Formula 1 Expert race. A few other purse paying classes include: RaceworX – A Superstock Expert ($165), and South Central Race Center – C Superstock Expert ($165). MotorSport Ranch – B Superstock Expert and Novice sponsored classes offer a one day guest member pass to the Ranch for two lucky random draw winners.

There is live timing and scoring available for all the races via the Race-Monitor App on mobile devices and online at cmraracing.com/timing.html.

Gates open each day at 6:00 a.m. and we race rain or shine! Weekend entry into the event is only $20 on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, and just $15 on Sunday. Tickets are good for the entire weekend. There is a $5 wristband refund for participants leaving Saturday night – turn in your wristband at the gate as you leave. Ride your street bike to the event and you’ll pay just $5 for entry on both Saturday and Sunday! Kids 12 and under are free. A spectator lap of the track will be conducted during the lunch break on Sunday, schedule and weather permitting.
