World Superbike: Leon Camier To Return To Action This Coming Weekend At Magny-Cours

Leon Camier and Ryuichi Kiyonari reunited for the Pirelli French SBK round.

This weekend will see Leon Camier make his return to the racetrack alongside Ryuichi Kiyonari as they compete for the Moriwaki Althea Honda Team in the Pirelli French WorldSBK round at Magny Cours.

Leon injured his left shoulder ligaments during the Superpole qualifying session at Imola (Italy) where he could not avoid another rider who crashed just ahead of him, and underwent surgery in July when it became clear that despite his progress, he was not re-gaining the necessary strength and range of movement to ride.

Having successfully recovered from the operation, the Brit now returns for the last European round before WorldSBK heads to South America and the Middle East for the final events of the 2019 season.

Leon Camier:

“I’m happy and eager to get back to the team and to racing this weekend. Being forced to stay away has been tough but the situation was what it was, so I just tried to cope as well as possible, focusing on my physiotherapy and training as soon as I was able to start that. Since the operation, my shoulder has got better and better day by day and now I can’t wait to ride my bike on Friday. I probably won’t be at 100% right from free practice 1 but I don’t expect any problems in getting through the weekend.”

Ryuichi Kiyonari:

“I’ve been at Magny Cours just once, in 2009, but unfortunately I crashed in race1 and could not take part in race2. It was a real pity because I actually liked the track quite a lot, so I’m happy to be heading back to race there again now. I enjoyed turn 1, turn 2, the back straight and several tight and technical corners, and I have good memories of the circuit in terms of the riding. I look forward to a much better outcome this year and possibly better results compared to recent races. It will also be good having Leon back to the team.”
