beIN SPORTS USA, which is based in Miami, Florida, is prepared to continue broadcasting live coverage of the MotoGP event at Misano and the MotoAmerica races at New Jersey Motorsports Park (NJMP) this coming weekend even though deadly Hurricane Irma is forecast to directly impact south Florida.

Hurricane Irma, a very destructive category five hurricane, is forecast to hit southern Florida at some point this coming weekend. Local officials have called for an evacuation of the Miami-Dade County area, but a skeleton crew of 10 beIN SPORTS USA employees have volunteered to stay behind and literally lock themselves in the beIN SPORTS USA headquarters to facilitate broadcasting as long as possible this coming weekend, according to beIN SPORTS USA personnel at NJMP who spoke to Roadracingworld.com on condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to speak for the network.

Live MotoAmerica race coverage is normally transmitted via satellite from the racetrack to beIN SPORTS USA headquarters in Miami, where it is then distributed all across the world, but if beIN SPORTS USA in Miami loses its ability to receive or transmit when Hurricane Irma hits southern Florida this weekend, live race coverage will be transmitted to beIN SPORTS facilities in Spain and then distributed to the rest of the world, again according to beIN SPORTS USA personnel at NJMP.

Transmitting the signal back and forth to Spain will create a few extra seconds of delay, but viewers shouldn’t notice anything put of the ordinary regardless of what happens in Miami.
