Defending Superbike Champion Cameron Beaubier plans to have surgery on his injured shoulder next week and will miss the last two rounds of the 2017 MotoAmerica AMA/FIM North American Road Racing Series, at New Jersey Motorsports Park next weekend and at Barber Motorsports Park the following weekend.
Beaubier dislocated his right shoulder on the first lap of the restarted Superbike race last Sunday at Pittsburgh Motorsports Complex. His bike tried to highside but Beaubier hung on and stayed aboard, but dislocated the shoulder in the process.
Yamaha has not not announced who–if anyone–will substitute for Beaubier at the New Jersey and Barber rounds.
The official Yamaha Motor Corp. U.S.A. team–officially called Monster Energy Yamalube Yamaha–is contracted to MotoAmerica as a Premier Team. Under the terms of the MotoAmerica Premier Team program, contracted teams are required to field replacement riders if possible.
At post time, phone calls to Yamaha and team officials asking for comment had not been returned.
