IMS Long Beach 2019: Energica MY2020
Energica Motor Company, the preeminent Italian manufacturer of high-performance electric motorcycles, announces ground-breaking new MY2020 models, revised pricing for the U.S. market and new technology offerings and upgrades.
Long Beach, November 2019
Energica Motor Company Inc., the US division of the Italian parent company, will be present at the Long Beach IMS Show for the fourth year in a row.
Energica’s selection as the single manufacturer for the inaugural FIM Enel MotoE™ races this year and the technical developments made possible from this have been a game-changer for the Company. The incorporation of the 21.5 kWh lithium-ion battery in three new models means that Energica now has the battery pack with the biggest capacity and power ever installed on a production electric motorcycle. Thanks to the new power unit, the electric motorcycles made in Modena get a improved torque: 200 Nm for the Eva EsseEsse9+, 215 Nm for the Ego+ and Eva Ribelle.
It is not all about performance, however, as weight and riding range are also positively affected: the MY2020 models are 5% lighter and have a 60% higher riding range:
City 249 miles, Combined 143 miles, Highway 112 miles.
Added to this, Energica continues to feature all three levels of charging as standard (Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3) with DC Charging capability, resulting in 249 miles of city range achieved in about one hour (40 min charging up 80% SOC); or through Level 2 charging at 41.5 miles per hour.
These technical features answer the perennial query of riders everywhere, when contemplating an electric motorcycle for the first time: “How far does it go?” followed by: “How long does it take to charge?” As Stefano Benatti, CEO of Energica Motor Company Inc. pointed out, “We’re already seen many traditional sportbike riders convert to the Ego because of its outstanding performance and excitement; we now anticipate that many other ICE fans will switch because the range is now more than sufficient for their riding needs.”
At the Energica IMS Long Beach stand, three bikes will be displayed, the Ego+ Sportbike in Sport Black, the Eva Ribelle Streetfighter in Stealth Grey and also the Eva EsseEsse9+ Retro Naked in Shocking Blue. All three motorcycles will feature the larger 21.5 kWh battery and other new features for 2020 including increased torque, reduced weight, and long-range connectivity Energica Connected Ride as standard.
In 2020 two models will continue to also be offered with the current 13.4 kWh battery, the Ego Sportbike and the Eva EsseEsse9 Retro Naked, at substantially lower MSRP.
U.S. Sales Network and Pricing
This year, Energica Motor Company continued expansion into additional important European and extra-European markets (including Japan and China) as well as adding select dealers in the United States. The U.S. distribution network currently includes 11 dealer locations in California, Florida, Maryland, New York, North Carolina, Oregon and Texas, with additional U.S. locations planned by the spring and summer of 2020.
