Third row for Roberts, despite his fever, and fourth for Uribe
Another long wait at the FIM CEV Repsol, nearly a month between the two races at the Catalunya Circuit and the two this weekend at the Valencia Circuit. The World Championship team is already on vacation, but the European Championship team keeps working. It rained last night, with a bit of mud, and the track was very slippery this morning. Moto2 was the first class to go out on track and doing it with a new tyre to make no improvement was not worth it. Joe and Jason did not ride very much in the morning and, in fact, the times set by the group were quite slow. Poleman Eric Granado (1.36.108) was able to improve by one second David Sanchís (1.37.261) best time from the morning session. This pole time is 4 tenths slower than last year. Forecast for tomorrow is sun and heat.
What happened on Saturday in the last round in Catalunya repeated itself. Joe Roberts will close the third row of the grid and Jason Uribe will start from 4th row. The riders of the Argiñano & Ginés Racing Team keep their level. Uribe is still not at 100% after the injury sustained in Montmeló, but he has made impressive progress, improving by nearly one second and a half in the second Qualifying session and achieving his best grid position. Meanwhile, Roberts has severe throat infection and it is being difficult for him. He arrived in Valencia, a track he did not know, with high expectations after getting on the podium for the first time in Catalunya nearly a month ago. He is doing his best, but today, after finishing the job, he went directly back to the hotel to rest. Yesterday he did not run during the Free Practice, he has done few laps. Despite that, the American improved his time by 7 tenths between the 1st and the 2nd Qualifying session. He has the feeling that he could have done better, but his conditions do not allow him.
Joe Roberts #27 Kalex Moto2 / 9th/ 1.37.995 +1.847s (27 laps): “This weekend is being really tough for me. I came down with throat infection, which has caused really bad fever and really bad sore throat during the whole weekend. I’ve had to take antibiotics, which is making me feel quite down. I’m not fully at 100% when I’m driving. Today, finishing 9th is not bad considering everything. Tomorrow, hopefully with the adrenaline for the race I’ll be able to pull something off to get a good result and just take as many points as possible this weekend. Overall, the feeling with the bike isn’t so bad and I’m pretty consistent with my times. If I can get a good start, the race tomorrow won’t be bad”.
Jason Uribe #36 Kalex Moto2 / 10th / 1.38.013 +1.905s (28 laps): “The weekend for me so far has been really good, I learnt a lot from last year. I know I have a lot I can improve for tomorrow. I’m happy with what I did in Qualifying, it’s my best Qualifying ever, so far. I know in the race, if I can get a good start, I’ll be able to go in the second pack and hopefully have a good battle. The team is doing really good, the bike is great, I think there are many things we can improve for tomorrow and I’m going to study hard tonight and try to improve my own riding and hopefully get a good result tomorrow”.

Tomorrow, the fourth and fifth race of the season will take place. The warm-up will take 15 minutes and starts at 9:20h. The races, with 19 laps each, are scheduled for noon, Spanish Time, and 15:00h. The entrance to the circuit and the paddock is free. They will also be broadcasted by Movistar MotoGP or the championship’s Youtube channel.
