Team Velocity Racing Returns to Endurance Racing!

Chuck Ivey, Brian Grossman team up for four-hour at New Jersey Motorsports Park

MILLVILLE, N.J.—After a six-year hiatus, Team Velocity Racing (TVR) returns to motorcycle endurance racing this weekend for the WERA/N2 Thunderbolt Superbike Challenge four-hour endurance race at New Jersey Motorsports Park. Team owner Chuck Ivey has joined forces with Brian Grossman of Team Wanker to compete under the TVR banner.

The last time TVR competed in an endurance race was 2011. From 2003 to 2011, TVR earned 7 national endurance championships including the Overall National endurance championship in 2005 on their Pirelli-shod Yamaha YZF-R1. Although TVR has been absent from endurance racing for six years, Ivey has stayed busy sprint racing and competing in select WERA National Endurance Series rounds with TOBC.

“I had been planning on putting something together for this race, but after the crash at Talladega last month I had to re-evaluate my plan due to repairs and budget constraints,” said Ivey, noting that the team will use Grossman’s R6 outfitted with TVR’s quick-change equipment. “Brian called me last week and asked if I would be interested in working with him to make something happen. Endurance racing was my passion for many years, and I love the challenges that the longer races bring.”

Grossman is an accomplished racer and rider coach who won two WERA championships in 2017. He said, “I am very excited to be teaming up with Chuck Ivey from Team Velocity Racing. This is my first endeavor into endurance racing, and I believe teaming up with Chuck is a very promising opportunity that I look forward to trying to capitalize on. He brings a lot of experience to the table which will give us a very good shot at bringing home a win.”

There is definitely more teamwork and planning involved in endurance racing, a challenge that Ivey enjoys. With full confidence in the combination of riders, Yamaha R6, Pirelli tires, VP Fuels, Vortex, Arai Helmets and Yamalube, Ivey is excited about bringing the TVR name back to the forefront of endurance racing.
