American Garrett Gerloff has been ruled out of the remainder of the World Superbike season-opening event at Phillip Island due to suffering a concussion in a crash during warm-up on Sunday morning.

According to the official World Superbike website, Gerloff was riding his GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Junior Team YZF-R1 into Turn Four when he was hit by Team Pedercini Kawasaki’s Sandro Cortese, causing both riders to crash.

Gerloff was conscious following the crash, but after being diagnosed with a concussion at the track’s medical center, the young Texas was flown by helicopter to a local hospital for further checks.

According to his team’s social media feeds, Gerloff suffered no other injury in the crash.
