The Yamaha bLU cRU Road Racers Are Ready For A VIRtuoso Performance At VIRginia International Raceway This Weekend

Cypress, CA – Round Three of the 2017 MotoAmerica AMA/FIM North American Road Racing Championship is this weekend at VIRginia International Raceway, and the Yamaha bLU cRU road racers are ready to take up the challenge on VIR’s 14-turn, 2.25-mile natural road course.

Monster Energy/Yamalube/Yamaha Factory Racing: Beaubier & Hayes

Two-time and defending MotoAmerica Superbike Champion Cameron Beaubier is currently in second-place in the 2017 points standings and, after battling hard and getting a win at Road Atlanta, Cameron is excited about what lies ahead for him this weekend at the Championship of Virginia.

“I’m looking forward to getting back on track with my team,” Cameron said. “We had a good win last year at VIR, and we’re also coming off a solid race weekend at Road Atlanta, so let’s keep this momentum going!”

Four-time Superbike Champion Josh Hayes led most of Saturday’s Superbike Race 1 at Road Atlanta, and then, his Sunday race ended abruptly with his #4 Monster Energy/Yamalube/Yamaha Factory Racing YZF-R1 cartwheeling into oblivion, so he is also anxious to get to Virginia and put his Road Atlanta outing behind him.

“VIR is traditionally a very good track for me, and it’s where I got one of my race wins last year,” commented Josh. “And, after my team and I learned a lot more about our R1 Superbike in Atlanta, I’m eager to take a fresh one and try to put it up front again. So, hold my Monster Energy drink, and watch this!”

Superbike Superpole (Qualifying) is on Saturday at 11:30 AM EST, Superbike Race 1 will go green on Saturday at 3:30 PM EST, and Superbike Race 2 is on Sunday at 3:30 PM EST.

Monster Energy/Yamalube/Yamaha Extended Service/Graves/Yamaha: Gerloff & Beach

The brand-new 2017 YZF-R6 has already won two Supersport races in its first two weekends of racing in the MotoAmerica Championship, with defending MotoAmerica Supersport Champion Garrett Gerloff and his teammate, 2015 MotoAmerica Supersport Champion JD Beach each tasting victory aboard their identically prepared machines. Both riders are looking to keep the string of Yamaha R6 victories going this weekend at VIR.

Garrett said, “VIR feels like the same track to me as Road Atlanta, but in a different state! They both have elevation, constant transitions, and a huge straight to stretch the R6’s legs. All things that I love when it comes to a motorcycle road racing facility! It’s a racetrack that I’ve gotten along well with in the past, and I can’t wait to get out there Friday morning and go to work.”

“After leaving Road Atlanta with two third-place results, I’m hungry for another win,” JD said. “Our finishes in Atlanta didn’t show how much we learned with the bike, as well as with my riding. VIR is a track that I enjoy, and we have had success there in the past. I’m looking forward to getting on track with the knowledge we have learned in the opening two rounds and get to work!”

Supersport Qualifying is Saturday at 9:20 AM EST, Supersport Race 1 is scheduled for Saturday at 2:25 PM EST, and Supersport Race 2 will go green on Sunday at 2:25 PM EST.
