Less than three weeks after the Ducati factory re-opened from a COVID-19 shutdown, the Italian company’s ultra-exotic, 224-horsepower, 350-pound, street-legal Superleggera V4 is nearing production.

In a recent posting to Twitter, Ducati CEO Claudio Domenicali posted a photo of employees with a Superleggera V4 and wrote in English: “Week 3 after restart is almost finished. Dreams are now becoming real: this is last pre production Superleggera ready to move to Nardo [a test track in southern Italy] for final quality check. No other road homologated bike is even close: 224 HP for 159 Kg [350 pounds] dry weight. A real dream for any passionate biker!”

Ducati officially announced the Superleggera V4 earlier this year, touting its lightweight carbon-fiber chassis (frame, swingarm, and wheels), its carbon-fiber bodywork and advanced aerodynamics, and its 1103cc 90-degree V4 engine, which is rated at 224 horsepower in standard trim. When fitted with the Racing Kit supplied with each unit, claimed horsepower goes up to 234 and weight drops to 335 pounds (152.2 kg).

Production will be limited to only 500 numbered units worldwide.

Suggested retail price for the Ducati Superleggera V4 is $100,000 USD.

Delivery was slated to begin in June 2020, and in spite of the factory shutdown caused by COVID-19, Ducati may soon make good on that promise.
