Club racer Hayden Gerson, 33, was arrested Monday night and charged with multiple counts of attempted murder of a police officer after a violent confrontation in San Diego, California. The incident started when police responded to a domestic violence call and escalated into a standoff after Gerson fought with and choked officers and police dogs, according to local news reports.

Gerson races with CVMA at Chuckwalla Valley Raceway in Desert Center and has had success in the club’s Amateur 250cc Supersport class on a Kawasaki Ninja 250 racebike he bought used.

According to CVMA spokesman Dustin Coyner, Gerson represented Sunline Energy, which claims to be “The Top San Diego Solar Installation Company,” when the company did a deal to sponsor two CVMA classes. Sunline Energy 250cc Supersport and Sunline Energy Ultra Lightweight Shootout were listed in official club results as recently as September 2016.
