Be Wiser Ducati Continues Into 2017

After a first full season which resulted in Shane ‘Shakey’ Byrne winning the 2016 MCE British Superbike Championship for his and his Penrith-based PBM Team’s fifth time, under the branding of Be Wiser Ducati, the successful partnership is set to continue into 2017.

The partnership between insurance giants Be Wiser, Paul Bird’s team and that of Ducati Corse in Italy proved to be the combination to beat this year as Byrne took nine victories on the brand new Be Wiser Ducati 1199 Panigale R as well as seven podiums and eight fastest laps on his way to the crown, leading to a recently announced two-year deal for him to continue with long-term friend and sponsor Bird.

The deal also cements the relationship between PBM and Be Wiser which started towards the end of 2015 and has seen the striking Fire Engine Red Ducatis of Isle of Sheppey rider Byrne and Ulsterman Glenn Irwin at the cutting edge of the action this year, whereby both riders will be again in action for the team in 2017.

Be Wiser’s Marketing Director Andrew Dunkerley said the 2016 season had been fantastic with Be Wiser Ducati Racing Team rider Shane Byrne winning the rider’s championship and PBM becoming the most successful team ever in BSB.

“It was great to be involved with such a successful, enthusiastic and professional team and we’re delighted to be back on board for 2017,” said Andrew. “Our first year working with the team was thrilling and winning the championship certainly helped promote our name to a wider audience.”

He said the professionalism of the team and future plans made the decision to renew the sponsorship an easy one.

“Shakey is back on board with a two-year deal and we’re already looking forward to a cracking new season.” Paul Bird, Team Owner said; “Paul Bird Motorsport has had a fantastic first full year together with Be Wiser Insurance as our title sponsor and we are extremely grateful for their continued support for the 2017 season. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Be Wiser, and we look forward to working with the company to strengthen our partnership and enjoy another exciting and rewarding season.”
