FIM MotoGP Stewards Panel
NOTIFICATION OF SANCTION
To: Valentino ROSSI, No.46 of the MotoGP Class.
Dear Sir,
According to the Sporting Rules of the 2016 FIM GP World Championship Regulations and the FIM Disciplinary and Arbitration Code, we hereby inform you of the sanction that has been imposed upon you without a hearing (in accordance with article 3.2.1).
Facts
On 20 October 2016 during the MotoGP FP1 of the MICHELIN AUSTRALIAN MOTORCYCLE GRAND PRIX, you were found to have used the 1008B Super Soft Full Wet Front Tyre more than 10 laps.
Reasons
This contravenes the instructions provided by the MotoGP Technical Director as follows: “In consultation with Michelin and Race Direction it has been agreed to limit the use of the 1008B to a maximum of 10 Laps (including the exit and entry laps).”
Decision & Sanction
For the above reasons the FIM MotoGP Stewards Panel has imposed on you the cancellation of the lap times during the run where the 1008B tyre was used illegally, ie. the run of more than 10 laps.
Right of Protest
According to the Art. 3.4.1 and 3.4.3 of the 2016 FIM Disciplinary and Arbitration Code, you have the right to protest against this decision in front of the FIM MotoGP Stewards within 30 minutes from the time of receipt of the decision, subject to immediate payment of the security deposit of 660 Euros.
Sincerely,
FIM MotoGP Stewards Panel
