189 MPH Track Ride! Aprilia RSV4 1100 Factory, In The September Issue

        The rear wheel spun and then the traction control kicked in, propelling the Aprilia RSV4 1100 Factory forward as I opened the throttle exiting Turn Seven at Road Atlanta. I clicked second gear, then third gear as I crested the rise on the back straight. The full power of the 1078cc engine was unleashed as I clicked fourth gear.

        Gaining speed, I clicked fifth and then sixth gear as I leaned into the kink. The speedometer kept climbing over 180 mph. One last glance at the speedometer showed me I was at 189 mph before I straightened the bike up and went for the front brake, rifling down to first gear for the chicane. Things can get hectic at the end of the back straight, but the Brembo Stylema calipers, 330mm discs, and semi-active Öhlins forks on the Aprilia were up to the task.
