Two-time MotoAmerica Stock 1000 Champion Andrew Lee was due to ride a Kawasaki ZX-10RR built by Superbike Unlimited in the MotoAmerica HONOS Superbike races September 18-20 at Barber Motorsports Park.

Lee rode the bike during Friday’s two Superbike qualifying sessions and did well, recording the eighth-fastest lap time, 1:25.866, and earning his way into Superpole.

On Saturday, however, Superbike Unlimited suddenly withdrew their entry.

Asked about the move at the track, Superbike Unlimited owner Freddy Carswell declined to comment to Roadracingworld.com, but thanks to photos and videos posted on the social media pages of Superbike Unlimited it became clear that the Kawasaki was fitted with a Motec M170 ECU and a Nova Racing close-racing racing transmission, neither of which are legal in MotoAmerica Superbike.

In the video below, Carswell explains the situation at Barber Motorsports Park and hints at a return to MotoAmerica Superbike, possibly at Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS).

Andrew Lee is currently on the Superbike entry list for IMS as riding the #14 Superbike Unlimited Franklin Armory Racing Kawasaki ZX-10RR.
