Pirelli Claims its First Bounty of the 2016 Season With Adam Robarts at Round Two of the WMRRA Series

Despite Cool Temperatures, Pirelli Superbike SC1 front and SC0 Rear Slicks Set New Motorcycle Track Record

ROME, Ga. – History was made during the second round of the 2016 WMRRA Series, which took place at The Ridge Motorsports in Shelton, Washington and witnessed Adam Robarts set a new motorcycle track record with his Pirelli DIABLO™ tires. The Redline Motorsports rider raced his Yamaha R1, fitted with Pirelli DIABLO™ Superbike SC1 front and SC0 rear slicks, to an impressive 138.845 lap time during the Formula Ultra Race.

In the motorsports world, old records are shattered and new records are generally set during days of competition that take place in relatively warm weather conditions. However, high temperatures are not always the case, including at this particular event that would be considered under very cool conditions (62F). The milestone confirmed the versatility behind Pirelli’s technology in their superbike lineup.

“Racers are a very superstitious group and we have heard many times that the DIABLO™ Superbike SC0 rear slick needs a hot track and really hot ambient temperatures to work,” said Jeff Johnston, Pirelli Road Racing Manager, NAFTA. “Adam has proved that a great bike setup, along with a keen, focused rider can get you a Pirelli bounty and track record. This is another confirmation that the Pirelli WSBK tires can be used by any rider with the same great results!”

The successful weekend continued for Robarts as he swept the Open Classes for a perfect Memorial Day weekend, further extending his WMRRA Championship points lead. He currently sits atop the standings with a total of 381, which is 38 points more than his closest competitor.
