Road America Is “Rode A Yamaha” As The bLU cRU Looks To Extend Their Wisconsin Winning Streak This Weekend

Cypress, CA – June 1, 2016 – Road America in Elkhart Lake, WI, is a favorite stop on the MotoAmerica Road Racing schedule for the Yamaha bLU cRU teams and racers…and for good reason. Not only does the bLU cRU love the 4.05-mile, 14-turn natural road course, but they also love the enthusiasm and welcoming spirit of the Road America fans.

Those two factors have clearly contributed to Yamaha’s phenomenal success in Wisconsin. A total of 28 race victories in the past six years makes Road America more like “Rode A Yamaha.” In fact, last year, in MotoAmerica’s inaugural visit to Road America, Yamaha bLU cRU riders won all eight races in which they were eligible to compete–a perfect record in Superbike, Superstock 1000, Supersport, and Superstock 600.

Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha Factory Racing: Beaubier & Hayes

Defending MotoAmerica Superbike Champion Cameron Beaubier, who has won a class-leading four races aboard his #1 Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha Factory Racing YZF-R1 so far in 2016, comes into Road America in second place after notching a win in Sunday’s second Superbike race at VIRginia International Raceway. Cameron won Saturday’s Superbike Race 1 at Road America last year, so he’ll be racing hard this weekend to retake the lead in the 2016 MotoAmerica Superbike Championship.

The current MotoAmerica Superbike points leader is “Mr. Road America” himself, four-time AMA Superbike Champion Josh Hayes, who has won a whopping total of eight Superbike races at Road America. Josh has won at least one of the two Superbike races at Road America every single year, starting with his breakthrough Saturday victory in 2010. And he also swept both Road America Superbike races for two years in a row, in 2012 and 2013.

Josh won his first Superbike race of the 2016 season in Virginia aboard his #4 Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha Factory Racing R1, and he extended his Championship lead to 11 points over his teammate Cameron.

Superbike Superpole (Qualifying) begins on Saturday at 2:00 PM CST. Superbike Race 1 will go green on Sunday at 12:30 PM CST, and Superbike Race 2 is later on Sunday at 4:00 PM CST.

Yamaha Extended Service/Graves/Yamaha: Beach & Gerloff

Defending MotoAmerica Supersport Champion JD Beach returns to Road America, which is where he started a winning streak last year that ultimately led to his 2015 Supersport title. JD won Sunday’s Supersport Race 2 last year, and he’s hoping to start another winning streak aboard his #1 Y.E.S./Graves/Yamaha YZF-R6 this weekend in Wisconsin.

Speaking of winning streaks, JD’s teammate Garrett Gerloff is currently enjoying one of his own. The rider of the #31 Y.E.S./Graves/Yamaha R6 earned the pole at VIRginia International Raceway and went on to win both VIR races, which extended Garrett’s 2016 MotoAmerica Supersport Championship lead to 31 points coming into Wisconsin.

Supersport Qualifying is Saturday at 9:20 AM CST. Supersport Race 1 is scheduled for Saturday at 4:00 PM CST, and Supersport Race 2 will go green on Sunday at 2:45 PM CST.

Meet The Yamaha bLU cRU Road Racers

Come to Don and Roy’s Motorsports at 17740 West Bluemound Road, in Brookfield, WI, this Thursday. Beginning at 6:30 PM, Cameron, Josh, JD, Garrett, and several other Yamaha bLU cRU riders will be on hand to sign posters and memorabilia, greet fans, and share a few other surprises. Don’t miss it!

Cameron, Josh, JD, and Garrett will also be available for autographs at their Team Transporters in the Road America paddock on Saturday from 11:45 AM to 12:30 PM. And, the Fan Walk, scheduled for 10:50 to 11:30 AM Sunday on pit lane at Road America, is another great opportunity to meet Cameron, Josh, JD, and Garrett. The riders will be handing out free, autographed posters and other team items, and you can also get your picture taken with them, as well as with the Monster Energy and Y.E.S. Umbrella Girls.
