Aprilia HSBK Racing’s Claudio Corti Does the Double Double at New Jersey Motorsports Park
Houston, TX – Aprilia HSBK Racing’s Claudio Corti headed to MotoAmerica’s round 3 at New Jersey Motorsports Park this past weekend to claim the double double. He claimed not only two Superstock wins, but was also third overall in both races. The clean sweep this past Sunday makes three Superstock 1000 wins for Corti this season. His historic weekend brings him to 1st in the points standings.
On Friday, Corti quickly learned the track despite weather conditions. He finished the second practice session of the day P1 in Superstock and P4 overall. Saturday the weather had cleared and during the final practice session Saturday, Corti wrecked, but was physically unharmed. His laptimes before the accident weren’t fast enough to qualify him to go directly to Superpole 2. The team rallied and quickly repaired his bike. Three hours later he finished Superpole 1 in 6th and qualified for the 16th place on the grid.
Despite grid position and weather, Corti had a strong start during race one on Sunday. He built a significant gap for much of the race and pushed ahead of numerous factory Superbikes. When he crossed the finish line, he made MotoAmerica history by earning a win in Superstock 1000 and a 3rd place podium position in Superbike.
Race two, Corti once again got a hole shot and by turn one had moved towards the leaders. He was run off the track early in the race behind an accident, but was able to safely get back on the track and make up ground. He quickly surpassed the majority of the field and headed back to first in class and third overall. For the first time in MotoAmerica history, a rider not only claimed the double win in the Superstock 1000 class, but also double podiumed in the Superbike class.

Millennium Technologies/KWR team weathers the storm for solid finishes at NJMP
MILLVILLE, N.J. (May 3) — The Millennium Technologies-sponsored KWR racing team battled wet and dodgy conditions this past weekend at New Jersey Motorsports Park in Millville, N.J. for the third round of the MotoAmerica Superbike Championship. Kyle finished 10th and 11th respectively in the Superbike race one and race two Sunday.
Kyle qualified 7th in class and 10th overall, making it through to Superpole 2 which was run in dry conditions.
“It was nice to get back into Superpole 2 where I feel we belong,” Wyman said. “We had a really great dry pace when the track was cooperating, and I was really hoping the rain would stay away at my home track. Unfortunately we had limited track time in the rain and had to race two long superbike races in it.”
Wyman’s dry setting superbike was then parked for the races, and a brand new rain bike was prepared for the two 18-lap events on Sunday. Sunday morning’s warm up session was the first time the new rain bike would see a lap around a race track.
“It’s always tough to shake down a new bike during a race weekend, but I’m glad my guys were able to put it together,” Wyman added. “Having two complete bikes provides peace of mind and allows me to push harder knowing I have two. Getting the electronics sorted out for the rain was our next task.”
Wyman dropped from his qualifying grid position to finish 10th and 11th in class in both races, run in 55 degrees and rainy conditions. He scored zero points due to finishing outside the top 15 overall.
“As much as I want to be up front, this weekend was a massive step in the right direction from a development standpoint,” Wyman said. “We have two bikes in one piece, and a ton of data that will help us in the future. We definitely missed the setup for both races but I’m happy with the progress we made.
“With the next round at Virginia International Raceway, I’m hoping for a dry weekend but we will be prepared either way. It’s another track that I love and I can’t wait to ride my Millennium Technologies Superbike again.”
Travis Wyman proves resilient in the face of adversity at New Jersey
Travis Wyman had an up-and-down weekend at New Jersey Motorsports Park competing in the Superstock 600 category. The younger of the Wyman brothers crashed out of race one and finished fourth in race two.
“I was really looking forward to the rain,” said Travis, who qualified fifth in class. “Saturday we actually had a dry race, but it was still cold, and I made a mistake going into one of the slower left-hand corners. There aren’t many left handers here so that side of the front tire tends to lose heat easily.”
Wyman was unhurt in the crash, and picked himself back up for Sunday’s race two, in the rain.
“I felt comfortable in the rain, but couldn’t quite run the pace of the faster guys,” Travis added. “I got held up early, and lost the lead group. From there I ended up in a really good battle for the podium spot but it wasn’t helping us catch the second place rider. I’m glad to have salvaged some points in race two because the championship is what we’re really after.”
The fourth round of the MotoAmerica series at Virginia International Raceway is May 13-15, 2016.

MILLVILLE, New Jersey (May 3, 2016) — Despite a wet weekend at New Jersey Motorsports Park, Riders Discount/Tuned Racing rider Bryce Prince placed first in race one and finished fifth in race two for the Superstock 600 class. Prince still leads the Superstock 600 Championship with 81 points after the race weekend.
“New Jersey was a very difficult weekend for everyone,” said Prince. “On Friday we had horrible conditions, but I was able to get 12 laps in to get a feel for the track. We made some suspension changes and were ready for Saturday. For qualifying the track was cold and slick, but it was dry. Saturday morning we were able to get up to pace quickly and secure the pole position. We made some small changes to the bike for race one; they were not perfect but we were able to edge out the competition and gap the rest of the field to take home our second win of the season. Sunday morning was extremely rainy and cold; I only got 3 laps in before I fell down, and my mistake caused us to have no wet setup time. We made some changes before the race and were able to make the bike better, but not as good as the competition. We rode home a solid fifth place finish, collected some valuable points, and are still in the championship lead. We’re ready to head to Virginia in two weeks!”
Jason Aguilar’s bad luck followed him to New Jersey where he was pitted due to a mechanical issue for a portion of race one, leaving him to finish in 14th place. Aguilar placed 13th in race two.

MAZZIOTTO ON THE PODIUM IN NEW JERSEY
Anthony Mazziotto III registered a measured and mature performance in front of his home crowd at New Jersey Motorsports Park this past weekend to bolster his 2016 KTM RC 390 Cup title hopes.
Despite difficultly finding a clear track during qualifying, the Jimmy Winters Motorsports ace managed to put his 390cc KTM racebike on the front row, posting the second fastest lap time on the combined order at 1:36.118. Mazziotto then made good use of his prime starting slot in the weekend’s twin races, running with the lead pack for the entirety of both contests.
During Saturday’s Race 1, the 2014 AMA Horizon Award winner led five laps but found himself shuffled toward the back of the six-rider train as the final lap opened. From there he was forced to slice his way past the nation’s top KTM RC 390 pilots in search of victory. Ultimately, Mazziotto’s attempt to storm to win at the checkered flag was foiled by a scant 0.166-second margin, but he still managed to claim a runner-up finish with his stirring last-lap charge.
Sunday’s Race 2 was a treacherous affair held in tricky wet conditions. Again Anthony demonstrated his mettle, battling for the lead in the front group and claiming a heady fourth-place result to collect another solid points haul.
As a result of his NJMP 2-4, Mazziotto currently holds down second in the ’16 KTM RC 390 Cup with 78 points.
Following the conclusion of the weekend, Mazziotto said, “In Race 1, I was holding back, but when the white flag came out a whole bunch of guys drafted me coming down the front straight. I wasn’t really where I wanted to be so I had to make a bunch of passes on the last lap. I was going to draft Ashton (Yates) and Brandon (Passch) before the flag, but I caught Ashton in the esses a little faster than I thought than I would. I had to go out on my line a little bit and couldn’t catch Brandon as a result. But all of my competitors raced really well this weekend so credit to them. Yeah, we’re looking for the win, but second place isn’t bad.
“And in Race 2, I got fourth in the wet. That’s not where I want to be, but fourth is a lot better than crashing out of the race and not getting any points.”

Mazziotto will be back in action for Round 3 of the KTM RC 390 Cup at Virginia International Raceway on May 13-15.

PORTLAND, Oregon — Andy DiBrino, age 21, got his first MotoAmerica Superstock 600 podium finish at New Jersey Motorsports Park last Sunday during Supersport race 2. The Oregon native finished 2nd place of the Superstock 600 racers in the 6 lap restart, leading until the last lap. In the original start of the race, DiBrino was able to follow the Supersport leaders for the first few laps, opening up a 9 second advantage over the rest of the field before the red flag was thrown.
“After the red flag and the delays, I’m just thankful to have raced again later in the day and get this 2nd place finish,” DiBrino said. “It was amazing leading my class for the first time. I did my best to defend the position the last lap, but ultimately I wanted to be smart and finish on two wheels. Everyone is riding really great this year, and 2nd place is a great result to build from. This experience gave me great confidence, and I want to keep this momentum going into Virginia.”
DiBrino is now tied for third place in the Superstock 600 Championship on his ICON/ MotoSport.com/ DiBrino Racing Yamaha R6 prepared by EDR Performance.
