Uribe Shines For AGR In Moto2 At Valencia
Jayson Uribe began his 2016 CEV Repsol championship in fine style, the AGR Team Moto2 rookie racing to 14th and 7th in the weekends 2 races at Valencia to leave the opening round an impressive 10th overall in the standings with 11 points.
Uribe who enters the prestigious Moto2 series after several successful seasons in the UK and France exceeded everyone’s expectations in the day’s second race climbing 14 positions from his starting slot of 21 to finish a very commendable 7th at the flag.
Jayson’s next race takes him to Motorland Aragon where he and the AGR Team will look to build on what was a very encouraging two 19 lap encounters at the Circuito Ricardo Tormo in Valencia yesterday.
Jayson Uribe: 14th + 7th: “I had a fantastic debut weekend at Valencia for the first round of the FIM CEV Moto2 European Championship! The 4 day event started off well on Thursday, as we made many positive changes to the bike. I had a small crash due to an oil spill on Friday, but the team worked hard and got me back out for the 2nd session. Saturday’s qualifying sessions were a struggle for me. I couldn’t seem to find a fast rhythm and ended up 21st for the races. I had a good start in race 1. Unfortunately I got tangled up a bit with a few other riders in turn 2, but I dug deep and finished in 14th and scored 2 points. Race 2 brought a better start. I got through the first lap cleanly and found myself at the tail end of a dog fight for 5th position. Everybody was struggling with the wind, and the lap times were significantly slower than race one. In the end, I finished 7th and had a great battle which lasted until the last corner of the last lap. A huge thanks to my team (Team AGR) for all of their hard work and patience. Of course, I couldn’t do any of this without the help of my personal sponsors and family. I had a fantastic weekend and I’m excited to see what’s to come in the future.”
