CVMA ROUND 6 SETS UP CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS BATTLES ACROSS THE BOARD

Wyeth Jackson sets new Femmewalla track record, Oleg Pianykh scores a hat trick.

The Chuckwalla Valley Motorcycle Association season is winding down, the points are stacking up, and there’s no denying that tension is building in nearly every class.

Benny Solis is likely pretty relaxed given the fact that he’s cinched the Middleweight Supersport, Middleweight Shootout, and Formula Middleweight championships on his Honda CBR600RR.

Daytona Anderson has the Open Supersport championship on lock after an incredible string of wins on his Suzuki GSX-R1000, but the fight for the Open Shootout title—and the coveted CVMA number 1 plate—is still going strong. Just two points separate young gun Anderson from veteran fast guy Dale Kieffer, and a crash on Sunday sent Anderson to the hospital, jeopardizing his contention for the number 1 plate. We’re wishing Daytona a quick recovery and hope to see him at the final round in April.

Scrambling for points, Jason Aguilar and Michael Gilbert had incredible battle in Saturday’s Supersport Middleweight race. Gilbert led from lap one but Aguilar was never far off his tail and crossed the finish line just 0.189 seconds behind Gilbert. It was the opposite situation in Sunday’s 12-lap Open Shootout race, where Jason led for the duration and Gilbert followed.

Wyeth Jackson snagged two wins in the Femmewalla class on her Kawasaki ZX-6R, and her fastest lap of the weekend—a 1:54.636—was a track record for the counter-clockwise direction. Wyeth now holds the Femmewalla class record in both directions. Wyeth also took the win on both Saturday and Sunday in the Formula 40 Middleweight class.

Oleg Pianykh pulled a hat-trick on his Yamaha YZF-R1, taking the win in Supersport Open on both Saturday and Sunday and Saturday’s Formula Open race.

There are still many class championships to be settled, and only one weekend of racing left to settle it. The score will be settled during CVMA’s final round on the weekend of April 23-24.

CVMA offers two full days of racing every race weekend and also includes Saturday qualifying for grid position in all classes, amateur and expert, as well as a wide variety of classes to choose from.

Additionally, CVMA offers free reciprocity as a means of encouraging racers from other clubs to come out and compete. Log on to www.cvmaracing.com for more information.
