WorldSBK and RTVE extend for a further 3 years
Spanish broadcaster to continue live coverage of the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship until 2018
Dorna WSBK Organization and RTVE are delighted to announce the agreement of a 3 year contract extension, assuring that every round of WorldSBK will continue to be broadcast on Teledeporte, the RTVE Free-To-Air Sports Channel, throughout Spain for the next three seasons. The renewal is announced as anticipation grows for the lights going out for the Australian Event on the 26-28th of February.
Every race and TISSOT-Superpole session of WorldSBK and WorldSSP will be available live online in conjunction with the expert broadcast partner, with most races also broadcast live across the country. Teledeporte, who have already proven their prowess in the partnership over the past three years, will also provide a commentary team and provide in-depth expert analysis, and their crew will be trackside at both Spanish rounds with a HF camera to bring fans closer to the action than ever before.
With even more coverage and promotion both on television and online, including highlights of each race of the STK1000 Cup on the website, this renewal assures once again that WorldSBK and WorldSSP will continue to grow across Spain, with 2016 seeing home rider Jordi Torres begin his second campaign in the world’s premier production-based motorcycle racing championship. The Grand Prix winner from Catalonia is ready to mount a title challenge onboard his BMW, alongside compatriot Javier Forés on the proven Ducati Panigale R. Both riders further add to the excitement for Spanish fans as the Valencian joins Torres in becoming a permanent WorldSBK fixture this season; trying to emulate Carlos Checa in winning another WorldSBK crown for Spain.
“RTVE has greatly supported motorcycling for many years and the renewal agreement to broadcast WorldSBK until 2018 is further great proof of our commitment to the sport, which is part of our DNA. We are confident that the Spanish riders will give the maximum, as always, to be forerunners in the races and that the events will be very even. The passion for motorcycling and professionalism that unite Dorna and RTVE will make sure our viewers are enthralled by this championship.”
“It’s fantastic news for Spanish fans that this new agreement has been reached given the rich history and tradition in Spain of roadracing competition,” said Manel Arroyo, Managing Director of TV and Media Area, Dorna Sports. “RTVE is a fantastic partner with whom we can assure the future of WorldSBK throughout Spain. Together with Teledeporte, we are looking forward to growing WorldSBK to an even greater level.”
Bikes are back on track for the new season soon, with Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit set to host the first showdown of 2016 as the new era of WorldSBK begins.
