Jayson Uribe will be joining the AGR family in the 2016 racing season. The American pilot, who is 16 years old, will race his first campaign in the European Moto2 Championship after a life dedicated to two wheels motorsports. Jayson was raised in the Napa Valley, CA, and began racing motorcycles at the age of four. He has competed in the British Superbike and the MotoAmerica Championships, and most recently finished up his first season where he acquired his first international win and a lap record on a stock 600cc machine in the French Superbike Championship.
Although Jayson is only 16 years of age, he measures in at 1.82 meters (6 feet) in height and 69 kilos (150 pounds) in weight, Jayson is one of the younger promising riders in the American motorcycling scene. Over the course of the next few seasons we will try to develop all of his potential talents with our team. This is not the first time working with Uribe in this category, since last year during the CEV FIM of Valencia, he competed with us as a wildcard participant with his characteristic number “36”, which left good feelings with the team for entire weekend, despite a fall during the race.
Iker Burutxaga, Team Manager: “We are very pleased to finish the contracts with Jayson Uribe. He is a pilot that we know from last year in Valencia, where we had a very positive experience with him. We really like the way he works with the team. Throughout the year we have done an exhaustive amount of monitoring of him in the Championship of France to assess his evolution as a pilot, and we believe that it is at the right time to make the leap to the European Moto2 Championship where he will race against many other talented pilots. We hope to be a fundamental element in Jayson’s riding progression over the course of the season.”
Jayson Uribe, Pilot: “Today has been like a dream come true for myself and my family! I love riding prototype machines and I can’t wait to begin my training with AGR in the upcoming weeks. I began my relationship with AGR in 2014 when a mutual friend, Anscari Nadal, organized a wildcard opportunity for me to ride a Moto2 here, at Valencia. I immediately formed a strong trust with my mechanics and the telemetry team; and over the course of the past year, we have all kept in touch and developed a deep friendship. I have a great team mate, Steven Odendaal, from South Africa. We can relate to one another because we are both living far away from our own home and our families. I’m anxious to learn from his years of experience on the Moto2 and to see how I can develop my own style as a racer on the bike. Right now, it’s all about being consistent, learning as much as I can, and laying a foundation which will put me on the right path to end up in the World Moto2 Championship in a few years! A special thank you to my manager, Donnie Graves, for flying here this weekend and supporting me!”
