SCRAMP Statement Regarding Management of Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca

MONTEREY, Calif., Sept. 17, 2015 — The following is a statement from Gregg Curry, Board President of the Sports Car Racing Association of the Monterey Peninsula (SCRAMP), regarding the decision by the International Speedway Corporation (ISC), of Daytona Beach, Fla., to decline submitting a formal proposal to take over operations and management of Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca:

“Our intention from the beginning, and remains the same today, is for SCRAMP to retain the concession agreement with the county and continue our 58-year management and operation of Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. We have been given the opportunity to submit a new proposal and look forward to submitting it to the county for review in a fair and open process.”

Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca was established in 1957. The world-renowned raceway has been operated since its inception by the Sports Car Racing Association of the Monterey Peninsula (SCRAMP), a not-for-profit 501c(4) corporation. Each race season, SCRAMP donates its net proceeds to the volunteer groups that help put on the races.
