GMT94 Yamaha’s Kenny Foray Clinches 2015 French Superbike Stock Champion Crown
GMT94 Yamaha’s Kenny Foray has ridden his brand-new Yamaha YZF-R1 to glory in the 2015 French Superbike Championship, taking the Stock title last Sunday at Circuit Carole.
Though the new YZF-R1 is still in its first year of production, Foray immediately showed the incredible potential of his Stock model right from the first inaugural race at Le Mans, where he finished in front of both the stock and superbike classes.
He continued his form throughout the season and won eight out of ten races, securing nine podium finishes in total before the round at Circuit Carole. His strong performance in the first race of the weekend saw him take third. He was unable to complete the second race, but still had a 60-point advantage over his closest rival with one round still to be held at Circuit d’Albi on September 25-27.
Fellow GMT rider David Checa also enjoyed his fair share of success during the race weekend at Carole and secured two victories in the French Superbike class.
Following Foray’s Stock title and Checa’s double superbike win, the French team is eager to start working towards their next goal; defending the Endurance World Championship title. A little more than two weeks ago they rode to a brilliant victory at the Oschersleben 8 Hours and are currently preparing for the final stretch of the championship taking place during the 79th edition of the Bol d’Or on 18-20 September. They currently hold second place in the standings, 23 points behind the championship leaders, with 60 points still up for grabs.
