Brookes and Milwaukee Yamaha target final podium points ahead of the Showdown

Milwaukee Yamaha’s Josh Brookes leads the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship standings as the team arrive in Cheshire for the triple-header ninth round of the season at Oulton Park.

Brookes has celebrated victory in the last six consecutive races and the Australian is gunning for the final three wins to secure the final 15 podium points available before the Showdown.

“We are in a good position and we are all going out to do the best we can, but for sure it is good for me to have the run of success that we have had as that all helps the preparation.

“When we were at Oulton Park last the bike was still in the early stages of development and we have moved on a lot since then so I hope that the bike is even more impressive this weekend. We are also expecting some upgrades with a new exhaust so that could add something too.

“I am focused on what I need to do and this round will be critical for a few riders for the Showdown but at the same time everyone has been doing their best all year. For some riders there is more to win or lose this weekend so we need to try and keep ahead.”

TEAM TRACTION CONTROL GUNNING FOR WINS AT OULTON PARK

Team Traction Control are determined to return to the podium this weekend at Oulton Park as they bid to climb the standings in both the Motorpoint British Supersport and Pirelli National Superstock 600 Championships.

The team suffered a tough weekend last time out at Cadwell Park, but both James Rispoli and Andy Reid are ready to put that behind them and fight at the sharp end at the challenging Cheshire circuit, having delivered strong performances at the track back in May.

The event marks the home round for Joe Francis and the Chester-based contender is ready to push back into contention for the top three after he was denied the chance last time out when he was taken down by another rider.

Rispoli said: “We feel good at Oulton Park, the last time we were here we had good speed and our pace improved throughout the weekend. We are going to be pushing for the podiums that’s for sure because we have moved forward since the last time we were here.”

Reid said: “I am really ready for this weekend. I am only two points behind James now and I was on the podium at Oulton Park before so we want to do that again – if not better. I want to be winning races and we have a good chance this weekend, I need to do everything possible to get the best results we can.”

Francis said: “This round is important to me as it is my home round and it is one of my favourite tracks. We had a good race at the start of the season and after getting knocked off at Cadwell Park we want to be back fighting for wins. We need to be pulling results in now – these last three rounds we need to get on with it.”
