Michael Andretti, leader of the multi-faceted Andretti Autosport empire, is considering fielding a team in the MotoAmerica AMA/FIM North America Road Racing Series.

Andretti, a retired CART Indy Car Champion, came to Indianapolis Motor Speedway Saturday during the Red Bull Indianapolis GP at the invitation of his friend Wayne Rainey, the President of MotoAmerica and a partner of the KRAVE Group that owns the series.

Before handing out the trophies on the MotoAmerica Superbike/Superstock 1000 podium, Andretti spoke to reporters briefly.

Asked what he thought about what he had seen of MotoAmerica, Andretti said, “I like a lot of it. It’s really good. Wayne and the [KRAVE] Group, I think, are really gonna turn this thing around. I’m actually looking at it to see if we can participate in the future. I would bring a team in if I could do it. We’re walking around and talking to some people. If we could put something together it would be cool.

“I really like what [MotoAmerica/KRAVE Group] are doing. I think it’s [motorcycle road racing] going to come back. I really believe it. I believe they’re going to be able to get the manufacturers back into it and bring road racing in the U.S. back to where it should be.”
