OFFICIAL GOFUNDME ACCOUNT SET UP FOR FAMILY OF DANI RIVAS
San Francisco, CA (July 23, 2015) – An official GoFundMe account has been established to assist the family of Dani Rivas due to the tragic accident that took place during the second MotoAmerica Superbike race at Laguna Seca this past Sunday, July 19th. People who would like to contribute are encouraged to donate to http://www.gofundme.com/zss5mk.
In order to clear up any confusion regarding the above donation account established by Szymon Dziadzia, the Rivas Family would like to make the following statement:
“From the family of Dani Rivas Fernandez we would like to clarify an issue that has raised controversy for us these days concerning the GoFundMe link (http://www.gofundme.com/zss5mk) posted on different social networks.
When the terrible accident occurred, people who were around at the time, and always with affection and with the best intentions, launched a common initiative in American culture in such cases.
In America, as in other countries, when a tragedy occurs of this caliber, admirers, colleagues, or just people who want to show their support for affected family occurs, they make small financial contributions as a way to express their condolences and which in many cases they can not be physically close to the family. This initiative stems from the need of many fans to somehow repay for they have enjoyed watching Dani, the rider. We stress that in any event these contributions are made to solve economic problems and that, with respect to this issue, riders enjoy some insurance coverage, managed by the federation, which covers all the costs of the driver concerned.
While at first, due to the Spanish culture where we come from, we did not understand the reason for this form of support, we decided first of all to respect the actions of a crowd that enjoys the sport as we do. We must also add that after hearing their reasons, we understand the purpose of such action.
The person who was responsible for managing this initiative to not bother us, besides giving us unconditional support was Szymon Dziadzia, owner of Keigwins@theTrack Motorcycle School. While he may be a stranger to the Spanish fans, he is not in the United States, where he is a person of recognized standing in organizing various sports events related to the bike world.” ~ Lorena Rivas
