LB Racing Earns Redemption at NJMP ASRA Team Challenge

AMA Sanctioned ASRA Team Challenge Series Presented by Michelin Tire

New Jersey Motorsports Park – Thunderbolt

Millville, NJ – In 2014 LB Racing dominated the NJMP round ASRA Team Challenge Series Presented by Michelin Tire for 74 of the 89 laps when a crash took them out of contention after building a lead of over 2 laps on the field. In 2015 the field must have felt like it was “déjà vu all over again” as LB Racing (Lloyd Bayley) once again built a monstrous lead but this time. By lap 75, the lead was over a full lap and LB brought home the gold for Overall and the GTO Class. Last year’s winner Grease Monkey Racing (Eric Helmbach, Alex Shaw) finished in second Overall and second in GTO while the MDM/Bubblegum Team (James Fotinopoulos, Mark Miller Jr, Justin Holderman) finished third Overall and first in GTU. During the victory lane celebration, Mark Miller Jr. was overheard commenting “When I watched Lloyd’s pit stop where he put the bike on the stand, refueled the bike himself, then hopped back on for the rest of the race, I knew he deserved to win. Heck, I couldn’t lift my arms after my stint and here he was practically a one man pit crew!”

For the GTO Class, the final order was LB Racing, Grease Monkey Racing and in the final podium position was MI Boys Racing (Mikal Pechota, Ryan VanLeeuwen) from East Leroy, MI.

The GTU standings finished with MDM/Bubblegum on the top step, Jinba Ittai (Joel D Lenk, Matt Brown) finishing second for the fifth race in a row and the final spot went to Liberty Chevrolet (Kristopher Knopf, Paul Hanig). Jinba Ittai leads the GTU standings by 19 points after 5 rounds of the championship.

Once again it looked like Mavros Motorsports (Charlie Mavros, Seth Starnes, Dustin Young) would dominate the GTL class, but a mechanical failure brought their day to an early end. Even before the mechanical, Raw Speed Racing (David Hanig, Mark Evry) was up front and putting the pressure on Mavros. After the dust settled, it was Raw Speed followed by LWT Racer 61 (Sam Wiest, William Finnerty) in second with LWT Racer 171 (Todd Alberico, Benjamin Loyle) bringing home third place. Even with their misfortune, Mavros still leads the championship by 20 points over LWT Racer 61 with 3 rounds to go.
