MotorLand Aragón ready to host five exciting races

Almost in the slipstream of the recent races at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, the teams and riders of the FIM CEV Repsol are making their way to MotorLand Aragón for the fourth round of the season and the last before the summer break. The technical and demanding Aragón circuit will host five races, as there will be two races in each of each the Moto3™ Junior World Championship and the Moto2™ European Championship categories. The predicted heat and high track surface temperatures will clearly play an important part in the strategies employed this weekend.

Arón Canet (SPA-Honda) will be working hard to maintain his excellent performance so far in the Moto3™ Junior World Championship. The 90 points garnered from two first and two second places have earned him first place overall in the standings and give him a comfortable advantage over Khairul Idham Pawi (MAL-TSR Honda), 27 points behind. But if something has characterized the riders in the Moto3™ Junior World Championship so far this season it has been their tremendous competitiveness. This has been clearly evident in the constant battles on the track that have led to minor differences between the riders at the top of the points table: in third place Nicolò Bulega (ITA-KTM) has 55 points; only five points behind him comes Joan Mir (SPA-Honda) with Bo Bendsneyder (NED-Honda) trailing by just two points on 48.

Still at the head of the Moto2™ European Championship points table is Edgar Pons (SPA-Kalex), who is pulling away from his pursuers. The Páginas Amarillas HP 40 Junior rider was helped out by the fall of his nearest rival – Xavi Vierge (SPA-Tech3) – in the previous round, which leaves Vierge trailing the leader by 25 points. In third spot, a single point behind is Marini Luca (ITA-Kalex), whose performance left a good impression in the previous round. With more than half the season gone, the 50 points in play at MotorLand may be crucial for such notable riders as Eric Granados (BRA-Kalex), Alan Techer (FRA-Tech3) – both on 37 points – or Steven Odeendal (RSA-Kalex) to consolidate their positions in the table.

A mighty duel is anticipated between Carmelo Morales (SPA-Yamaha) and Kenny Noyes (USA-Kawasaki), the two riders heading the Superbike European Championship results table. Iván Silva (SPA-BMW), third overall, comes to the race with fresh confidence after his podium place at Montmeló, while Robertino Pietri (VEN-Yamaha) has a tough job ahead if he wants to make up for his zero in the previous race. Leading privateer riders Axel Maurin (FRA-Kawasaki) and Pierre Texier (FRA-Kawasaki), nine points behind, will be giving their all to stay on top of the points table.

The race schedule for next Sunday is as follows:

Moto3™ (15 laps): 11.00

Moto2™ (15 laps): 12.00

Superbike (15 laps): 13.00

Moto3™ (15 laps): 14.00

As usual, the entrance to the paddock will be free on Sunday. In addition, FIM CEV Repsol fans who make their way on Sunday to box 25 in the of MotorLand Aragón paddock can pick up a pass to join the Pit Lane walk that will take place before the start of racing.
