Bruno Silva won the Unlimited Grand Prix race at Homestead-Miami Speedway on his ART Performance Kawasaki ZX-10R after nailing the holeshot, opening a gap, and leading every lap of the race without challenge. Behind him, the battle was on for second place with Barrett Long leading the pack on his Yamaha YZF-R1. Halfway through the race, Armando Ferrer maneuvered his Kawasaki ZX-10R around Sean Dwyer to take over third place and was charging after Long. Ferrer made his passing move heading through turn ten in the final run for the checkered to take the second spot on the podium. Long finished third, with Sean Dwyer and Stefano Mesa rounding off the top five.

On the podium, Long stated, “I can’t thank my dad enough. He helps me with everything. Happy Fathers’ Day!” He also thanked Dunlop Tires, and stated that “Thermosman hooked me up with some good suspension.” Ferrer also thanked Thermosman, Dunlop Tires, and Moto Fairings, exclaiming, “Thank you very much! I’m very, very happy and the bike’s very good.”

Bruno Silva said, “I’m really happy. Yesterday I wasn’t able to get clean and fast laps, but today during the first race, I did a good job. It was a good race. The grip on the track is completely different than it was my last race about three hours ago. I’m really happy. I want to thank first of all, God, for the opportunity, my family for all their support, Martin, ART Performance, Fernando does a great job on this bike as well as Eric from GMD Computrack, and Pirelli Tires. I can’t thank those guys enough.” He proclaimed, “I’m very happy because today is fathers’ day. I want to dedicate this victory to my father, the best father in the world. And this is also my first fathers’ day as a dad, so I’m pretty happy!”

Silva won a total of four races, starting the day with his first victory in the GTO race, with the top three on the podium in the same order as the last race of the day (Unlimited Grand Prix). He also won the unlimited Supersport and Unlimited Superbike races.

Stefano Mesa was the winningest expert of the day with a total of five victories. He won the GTU, Middleweight Supersport, Heavyweight Supersport, Middleweight Superbike, and Heavyweight Superbike classes on his Westside Performance prepped Yamaha YZF-R6.

Amateurs Scott Billings and Jose Restrepo also won five races each. Restrepo won the Amateur GTU, Middleweight Supersport, Heavyweight Supersport, Middleweight Superbike, and Middleweight Grand Prix classes on his Speed Star Customs Honda CBR 600RR.

Apex Race Services/TT Motosport Tim Hunt Three Podiums on New K-Tech Suspension at CCS Homestead Miami Speedway

Apex Race Services/TT Motosports Tim Hunt was looking forward to getting on track with his new K-Tech suspension. He spent Saturday’s practice dialing in the new K-tech on his Yamaha YZF-R6. This being only his second time on the new suspension. “I felt Saturday would be a shakedown run. Even though I have been riding the R-6 for the last couple years, its always a learning process when you make major changes to the motorcycle. It is new suspension, so I still needed to learn the intricacies of K-tech” Tim stated. He was very happy with the way practice went and was excited for his first race on Sunday.

Tim stared off Sunday with a podium finish in the highly contested Expert GTU. With his next race Expert Formula 40 Middleweight he battled his way through the Unlimited pack to the front where he finished Third overall and First in class. Hunt was feeling good with the way the K-tech was handling. In his last race of the day Expert Gran Prix Middleweight he found himself on the box once again. “A win and two 3rd place finishes in the crowd of talented riders that we have down here in Florida is a huge accomplishment for me and our team especially at a track that does not suit my style of riding very well. Can’t wait til the next round at Palm Beach where we plan to really ruffle some feathers!!”

Tim Hunt would like to say Thank you to all of his sponsors for helping to make this a successful weekend.
