Miller Motorsports Park will close down at the end of October this year.
That’s the word from the current track operators, who confirmed local reports by issuing an official statement today.
The statement follows:
Statement Regarding Miller Motorsports Park
(May 8, 2015) – The Larry H. Miller Group of Companies has elected not to renew its lease with Tooele County and will cease operation of Miller Motorsports Park at the end of the racing season on October 31, 2015. A full schedule of racing events, driving schools, public karting and group activities will be held this summer as planned.
Gail Miller, owner of the Larry H. Miller Group of Companies, stated: “On behalf of my family, I would like to thank all of those who have supported the track over the years, both locally and worldwide, for their enthusiasm and use of the facility.”
UtahSBA Treasurer and spokesman Dana Wilson told Roadracing World, “This is very unfortunate news. UtahSBA has worked very hard to build a strong program based around the outstanding facility that is Miller Motorsports Park. How this news will impact UtahSBA’s racing and schools program is unclear. We intend to complete our 2015 season on schedule. Obviously, plans for 2016 are up in the air.”
UtahSBA raced at the Tooele, Utah track on April 25-26 and has another Vortex Masters of the Mountain Series event scheduled for May 16-17 on the West Course at Miller Motorsports Park. The club also has events scheduled for June 13-14 on the West Course, July 25-26 on the Perimeter Course, September 5-6 on the West Course and September 26-27 on the East Course.
Other organizations with 2015 events scheduled at the track include MotoAmerica June 26-28, WERA July 25-26 and AHRMA September 4-6.
