Six-time World Champion Geoff Duke died at his home on the Isle of Man May 1. He was 92.

Duke was born in St. Helens, Lancashire, England, in 1923. He made his World Championship debut on a Norton in 1950. He was the runner-up in the 350cc and 500cc World Championships in 1950, and then he won the World Championship in both classes in 1951. He repeated as the 350cc World Champion again in 1952. After switching from Norton to Gilera, Duke won the 500cc World Championship three years straight, from 1953 to 1955.

Duke retired after the 1959 season with 22 500cc Grand Prix wins, 11 350cc Grand Prix victories and six World Championships. He also won six TT races on the Isle of Man.
