The MotoAmerica AMA/FIM North American Road Racing Series has followed the lead of the FIM MotoGP World Championship and added a Stewards Panel to its race event management staff.

Previously, the three-member Race Direction panel (Race Director, FIMNA Safety Officer, MotoAmerica Representative) was tasked with overseeing that races were run in accordance with the established schedule and procedures while policing compliance with regulations and issuing penalties for infringements.

Now, the three-member Race Direction panel will still be responsible for overseeing operations of race events, while the new two-member FIMNA Stewards Panel will take over responsibility for “taking decision as provided in the Regulations, imposing penalties for any infringements of the Regulations, and adjudicating on any protest relating to infringements of the Regulations,” according to MotoAmerica Competitor Bulletin 09-2022.

In short, Race Direction will now focus on running the race events, and the FIMNA Stewards Panel will decide if participants have broken any rules and if so, what penalties will be handed out.

The Race Direction panel will now be composed of Race Director Rick Hobbs, FIMNA Safety Officer Dan Argano, and MotoAmerica Representative Niccole Cox.

The new FIMNA Stewards Panel is composed of FIMNA/AMA Representative Ken Saillant and MotoAmerica Rider Representative Michael Martin.

This new race management structure was in place at the MotoAmerica event at Pittsburgh International Race Complex.
