The first GP Day took place in Celle Ligure; a whole day dedicated to Giorgio Parodi’s memory, the founder of Moto Guzzi from Genoa and brilliant aviator, a wonderful event with many bikers and flight lovers coming from different Italian regions.
Giorgio’s passions, motorbikes and aircrafts, led him to establish Moto Guzzi in 1921 together with his father Emanuele Vittorio, and later in 1928, to found the Aeroclub di Genova with another prominent citizen, Enrico Profumo.
Starting from the early hours in the morning, old and modern motorbikes met in front of the municipal building, with Associazione Moto Guzzi Genova friends waiting for them, while Voli di Mare seaplane started its flights with many tourists staring at the sky.
During this warm October day, models as Airone, Astore, Cardellino, Le Mans and other important pieces, part of the Italian motorcycle heritage, made a parade on Celle Ligure natural stage in a unique contest, while take-offs and ditches left intrigued the many participants to this unusual air-motorsport show.
Moto Guzzi has recently blown out 100 candles as the Italian Air Force (which Giorgio Parodi belonged to) will do in 2023. To celebrate these important anniversaries, we must not be missing two pieces by Danilo Luce, a songwriter from Abruzzo region, who has translated into music the roar of the engines on the road and in the sky. “Tutti Pazzi per la Guzzi” and “Un cuore in Volo” have become the official musical theme for every Guzzisti meeting.
The Giorgio Parodi Association, organizer, and promoter of the whole event is very fain for the success of the event and would like to express its thankful appreciation to Celle Ligure Municipality for the great support in the organization and to all associations and clubs and every single person who contributed to make really unique this day, without forgetting the Gaslini Institute, a ‘just cause’, which the fundraising was addressed to.
And now let us meet up next in 2023!
