CODY KITCHENS WINS AT ARAGON IN SPAIN, AND WINS 2022 YAMAHA R6 CUP CHAMPIONSHIP

Cody Kitchens, age 16, raced his Andifer Racing Team Yamaha R6 to another victory, this time at Motorland Aragon on November 6th at the sixth and final round of the 2022 Yamaha R6 Cup, in the Rookies division.

Cody led the points in the class coming into this round at Aragon, despite a mechanical DNF at the previous round at Jerez. The first two sessions on Friday were dedicated to breaking in the engine, and he was able to get down to good lap times in the final free practice session. The two qualifying sessions on Saturday saw Cody qualify 10th overall, placing him on the inside of the fourth row of the grid.

On Sunday, Cody’s good start had him into eighth place overall by the second lap, and he was able to make a pass stick on another rider ahead of him early in the race. He finished seventh overall, well ahead of the next Rookies division rider.

That race finish allowed Cody to capture the Yamaha R6 Cup Rookies Class Championship.

“The draft down the back straight was amazing. I learned that I didn’t want to be in the lead coming out, because everyone would get past me,” said Cody. “I’m happy how my first year of racing in Spain went, and all the work the Andifer team put in for me. We had a few communication issues sometimes, but we always figured things out.”

For the 2022 season, Cody Kitchens is proud to be sponsored by MT Helmets, Three Chihuahua Racing (www.threechihuahuaracing.com) and Pakosta37 Riders Factory.

Cody is headed back to the United States for a visit, then back to Spain to work on his plans for the 2023 race season.
