Yamaha Announces bLU cRU Contingency Support For Daytona 200, And Previews Off-Road Racing And Other Daytona Bike Week Activities

Cypress, CA – February 27, 2015 – Daytona Bike Week is an important event for Yamaha Motor Corporation, U.S.A., and the cornerstone of Bike Week is, of course, the historic Daytona 200, where Yamaha has a long-standing heritage of racing success.

In addition to “The Great American Motorcycle Race,” Yamaha riders will be competing in Monster Energy AMA Supercross at Daytona, as well as several other racing events taking place in and around Daytona. Off the track, Yamaha will have product displays and bike demos that are sure to rev your heart during Bike Week.

Daytona 200

Yamaha bLU cRU road racers will be looking to notch Daytona 200 victory number 23 for the tuning-forks brand. Leading the charge is 2010 Daytona 200 winner Josh Herrin, who is back aboard a Yamaha YZF-R6 this year and racing for Wheels in Motion/Motosport.com/Meen Yamaha.

“Although the 2015 Daytona 200 is not a part of this year’s MotoAmerica Road Racing Championship, we’re pleased to announce that we will be adding the Daytona 200 to ourYamaha bLU cRU Road Racing Contingency Program in support of all Yamaha R6 riders,” commented Mike Guerra, Racing Department Manager for Yamaha. “All bLU cRUcontingency money will be paid directly to the riders’ bLU cRU Debit Cards. This year’s Daytona 200 is set to go green on Saturday, March 14 at 1 PM EST.

Monster Energy AMA Supercross

On Saturday, March 7, the Daytona Supercross will feature Autotrader.com/Toyota/Yamaha YZ450F riders Weston Peick and Phil Nicoletti, along with CycleTrader.com/Rock River/Yamaha rider Josh Hill. In 250 SX, Jeremy Martin and his Yamalube/Star/Yamaha teammate Anthony Rodriguez will be looking to, once again, put their YZ250Fs on the podium.

Vendor Village To Showcase 2015 YZF-R1/R1M, YZF-R3, And Star Bolt C-Spec

Four of Yamaha’s newest motorcycles will be on display at the Yamaha and Star display in Daytona International Speedway’s “Vendor Village.” The MotoGP-derived R1 and R1M; the entry-level R3 sportbike; and the café-racer-styled Star Bolt C-Spec, along with all the other 2015 Yamaha and Starmotorcycles.

The Yamaha and Star display is open in Vendor Village, Friday, March 6 through Friday, March 13 from 9 AM to 6 PM, and Saturday March 14 from 9 AM to 4 PM. Hats, T-shirts, and other Yamaha and Star merchandise will be available for purchase.

Take A Ride On A 2015 Yamaha Or Star Motorcycle

To demo a 2015 Yamaha or Star motorcycle, go to Gate 60 on the back side of the Speedway on Friday, March 6 through Friday, March 13 from 9 AM to 5 PM, or on Saturday, March 14 from 9 to 3 PM. You must be 21 years of age and have a valid motorcycle license (permits are not allowed), a DOT-approved helmet, long pants, enclosed shoes, a shirt, and eye protection to take your ride.
